Dr. Mariela Glandt – 'Reawakening the pancreas in Type 2 Diabetes'





Dr. Mariela Glandt was born in Argentina, received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and attended the University of Texas-Houston Medical School. She continued on to a residency in internal medicine at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. During residency Dr. Glandt did research on beta cell failure at the Joslin Diabetes Center. She then held an endocrinology fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, where her research focused on the reversal of Type I diabetes.

Dr. Glandt spent the following years in Israel, as director of the Diabetes Clinical Trials Center at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem with Prof. Itamar Raz. Dr. Glandt and published articles in international journals and was involved in clinical trials.

Dr. Glandt now works as an attending endocrinologist, as well as the associate program director of the internal medicine program at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. Her current focus is on improving patient and community health education, particularly in the areas of obesity and diabetes.
