January 2022 Meeting of the Advisory Council on Alzheimer’s Research, Care, and Services | Part 4

The Advisory Council on Alzheimer’s Research, Care, and Service provides advice on how to prevent or reduce the burden of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias on people with the disease and their caregivers. During the January 24, 2022 meeting, the Advisory Council heard about the National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease: 2021 Update, as recent federal activities. The Advisory Council heard invited presentations about dementia risk reduction for veterans and research on the potential relationship between COVID-19 and dementia, as well as a presentation about a recent report on the current capacity of the dementia care workforce. A panel presented on dementia assessment tools for special populations, such as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and a second panel discussed the inclusion of caregivers in clinical care settings.
