Here’s a simple and affordable tea we can drink often to cleanse or detox our liver damp heat qi and strengthen our lung qi, especially when we feel under the weather or if we feel like the air is not as clean.
Dandelion, also known as 蒲公英, is one of the plants mentioned in the TCM textbook 本草纲目 Ben Cao Gang Mu.
TCM consider this tea neither “hot” nor “cold”, used as both a medicine and food to clear damp heat in liver, detox and cleanse liver, hence strengthen lung/stomach qi.
In TCM remedies, it is used to treat breast conditions, such as inflammation or milk flow problems. (However, please do not think this is not suitable for men or that you immediately start to grow breasts.)
Here, I am sharing how I drink dandelion tea leaves when I feel like my liver qi is stagnating and/or stomach needs some boost – part of my maintaining my immune resilience as long time cancer survivor.
P.S. Do note that dandelion ROOTS and FLOWERS can also be used for other medicinal properties.
Disclaimer: I am not a TCM physician. Always work with your physician for best results. Please exercise discretion when drinking tea.
