Roche Diabetes Care and SAP create App for personalized health management

About 347 million people worldwide have diabetes. There is an emerging globalepidemic of diabetes that can be traced back to rapid increases in overweight, including obesity and physical inactivity. Total deaths by diabetes are projected to rise by 50% in the next 10 years (WHO).

But diabetes is not inevitable. SAP and Roche created a mobile app based on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform to enable doctors to follow the progress of their patients via a dashboard on their tablets or computers in real time. If indicators and parameters change, the health expert receives an alert and can send messages or set new goals for the patient. They can also send a request to schedule an appointment to discuss further treatments. Sharing the data online with the doctor allows for constant control and provides the patient with a feeling of security and collaborative care.
